Let me share my thoughts about the Movie, Endhiran has been in news ever since it started. With the earlier producers of the film, Ayangaran pulling out due to budget constraints in a time when the entire universe was under the grip of recession, Sun pictures cashed in the opportunity. In fact this will be the first film produced completely by Sun Pictures, produced by Kalanathi Maran, who is apparently one of the richest persons in the country and is one of the most influential persons in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Made on roughly 150 crore budget this is not only the costliest movie India has ever produced, it seems this will be the highest grosser Indian movie goers have ever seen. The hype created is unprecedented. I am sure that no other movie in past has its trailers being played in theaters as separate trailer shows and audience shelling out appr. 70 bucks to see the 10 minute trailer!
This is the biggest ever release in India, with more than appr. 3500 prints across the world. I agree that the hype surrounding the movie is beacuse of the fact that it is a Rajni starrer, It is a Maran’s show which has made sure that the movie has recovered 205 crores alone from its first day ticket sales. The marketing of this movie can very well be treated as a business case study for marketing of movies only, not for pathetic real Rajni fans. Now, Sun is shinning, Star is missing....in the monopoly business.
